SALUTATIONS MY FRIENDS!

Welcome to ARTHOLE! Sick and tired of our peers telling us that art is boring and mundane, we are here prove them wrong. At arthole, our aim is to showcase arts by youths, regardless of it being visual arts or performing arts.

We'll be featuring an artist of a different arts genre in every post, comment and tell us how you feel about the youth that we're featuring! Dying to find out more? "In the spotlight" is a interview section where you get to send in questions to our featured artists.

Any suggestions on who we should feature or whether we should feature YOU? Just drop us an email at artholeABM@gmail.com!

URBAN STREET TEAM

SOCCER! What was the first thing that pops in your head? 22 sweaty men chasing a ball? Well, most of y’all would think that Soccer = Friendly matches or competition. How about a form of art?

Well, these bunch of soccer enthusiast have made the unthinkable, possible. They have revolutionized soccer into freestyle soccer, where juggling and ball control is taken into another level. Urban Street Team (UST) is the name they go by, as they travel around the world such as Seoul, Mexico city and Berlin, spreading their unique talent. UST was only formed in May 2009 and is the ONLY freestyle soccer crew in Singapore.

These freestylers had to practice hard, rain or shine, UST made sure they were well prepared to give their audience the best. Due to their hard work, UST became known to many even in the overseas.

Being young and innovative, they ventured out of the normal soccer mindset. They performed in an international theatrical play, “Football Football”. This has been performed in several parts of the world such as Bosnia, Singapore and South Africa (during the 2010 World Cup). How cool is that?? The aim of these freestylers is to promote the Art of freestyle football, and showing people that when it comes to art, there are no boundaries. These freestylers prove to us that art has no right or wrong. Taking soccer and making it into an art form shows how flexible and adaptive art can be. Well, to simply put it: “ When football becomes art”.
